Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art led the art-dealer

Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (Museum of Contemporary Art, MoCA) has received a new director. As the Los Angeles Times, he became an art dealer and gallerist Jeffrey Deitch (Jeffrey Deitch).
MoCA Board of Trustees unanimously endorsed the candidacy of Deutsch. The new director will officially begin work June 1, 2010, his contract will last for five years.
Deitch will be the fifth director of the MoCA over the past five years. Museum, has one of the world's best collections of postwar art in 2008 was on the verge of bankruptcy.

It is believed that the board of trustees chose Deutch, counting on his financial expertise. At the same time, the Los Angeles Times notes that the appointment of an art dealer for the post of director of a large non-profit museum might entail a conflict of interest.

57-year-old Deitch received his MBA from Harvard. In the late 70's he opened a consultation to clients Citibank, who wanted to invest in art, and later became an independent dealer selling, in particular the work of Jeff Koons, Keith Haring and Michel Basquiat, with whom Deitch closely befriended.

In 1996, Deutsch created his gallery Deitch Projects, but now under the contract with MoCA, he must leave the project. He also promised to cease commercial advice and pay less attention to the development of their private collection.
