January 13, 1832 was born Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin
Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin was born into a family of merchants. Father of the artist, IV Shishkin, was not only an entrepreneur, but also an engineer, archaeologist and local historian, author of "Stories of the city Yelabuga. Finished the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1856, the future artist studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1856-60). As a pensioner of the Academy in 1862-65 lived in Germany and Switzerland, visited the studio of the Swiss landscape painter R. Koller. But incomparably greater impact on him had a magnificent epic scenery of another Swiss, A. Kalam. Lived mainly in St. Petersburg. Of particular importance for Shishkina have full-scale impressions received in his native place (where he often people came), as well as on. Balaam and around St. Petersburg and Moscow.
"Every student in the summer to write sketches in them from all sides to study what he chose his specialty, in addition, both winter and summer, he must have a notebook and an album to become accustomed zacherchivat in them that will stop the his attention, and not rely on his memory and imagination ... "
Landscape should be not only national, but more local. Earnest around what has been said to be my years of experience and my desire to serve his native landscape, and I hope that time will come when the whole of Russian nature, alive and inspired, look to the canvas by Russian artists.
