Interest Ivan Lindsay, director Lindsay Fine Art Ltd by Russian art is not accidental because it comes from the famous family Vorontsov. Start the British branch, which belongs to Ivan Lindsay, put the Count Semen Vorontsov (1744-1832), a famous diplomat at the court of Empress Catherine II, with distinction during the Russian-Turkish war and later appointed to the Russian embassy in London in 1775. In England, Semyon Romanovich Vorontsov married and lived until his death. His daughter Catherine was married to Lord Pembroke, and his son Michael returned to Russia and participated in the Napoleonic wars. For successes in military campaigns, Mikhail Vorontsov was granted the title of His Serene Highness Prince, and he was appointed governor-general of New Russia and viceroy of the Caucasus. His name is connected arrangement of the architectural center of Odessa, a personal collection of his books became the basis of the local university library.
