Engineers at CERN for the first time realized the collision of protons in the 27-mile tunnel of the Large Hadron Collider. Scientists have declared it a landmark event and a great step forward in our understanding of astrophysics and the nature of the universe.

With the LHC scientists are going to recreate the conditions that existed in the universe immediately after the so-called Big Bang. As a result, they hope to receive a special sub-atomic particles - Higgs boson, which is still known only in theory. It is believed that this creates a whole mass of the particle in the universe.

"This is a great success, and done it over a relatively short period of time, - said General Director of CERN, Rolf Hoyer (Rolf Heuer). - But we must focus on the future. Prior to running the physical BAC programs we still have a lot of work.
