The old Briton, whose name is kept secret, put up for auction now Duke's Ludovic Matstsolino, Italian Renaissance masters beginning of XVI century. As reported by BBC News, the work lay in stock for almost 60 years: the owner had not thought about it since 1950.
Dating from the year 1522 painting, which depicts Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, is estimated at 40 - 60 thousand pounds, but its cost may be higher: in 2005, the product Matstsolino was sold at Sotheby's for 370 thousand pounds. Pictures of the masters rarely appear at a public auction and therefore of considerable excitement.
