This majestic cathedral probably was not built without the influence of music genius of the German composer.
In 1923 a group of persons, among whom was George Antonovich Kosyakov fanatically devoted to works of Wagner, decided to remedy the lack of execution of the works of the great composer on the scene and organized in Petrograd "Circle Wagnerian music lovers with the aim of familiarizing the public to his work.
The initiator of such a community was professor of architecture, KA Khmelnitsky, a passionate lover of music, especially Wagner. "Circle" has taken a preliminary charter, which aimed to chamber performance of Wagner's operas, primarily the tetralogy Der Ring des Nibelungen. " Later "Circle" shape in the Wagner Society of Art "with extended tasks. 5.04.1925, the meeting of the members of the Society elected by the Board: KA Khmelnitsky - President, VP Kolomijtcov - deputy.
