By the end of May 1919 Modigliani returned to Paris. After several successful exhibitions in England, British collectors began to buy his work. But by the end of the year Modigliani is exacerbating tuberculosis and 24 January 1920, he dies. The next day, pregnant Jeanne Hebuterne commits suicide. Amedeo was buried in a modest grave, no monument in the Jewish section of the cemetery of Pere-Lachaise, in 1930, 10 years after the death of Joan, her remains were buried in a nearby tomb.
