Default Shtokalo, 2 Etudes. Saratov - 1954.

History of the artistic life of Saratov second half of the twentieth century would not be complete without a story about fate and work of one of the faithful servants of Fine Arts , which was the artist Vladimir Afanasevich Shtokalo ( 1924-2012 ) . The exhibition at the museum-estate VE Borisov-Musatov presented landscapes, sketches, sketches , drawings, created almost half a century of his work.
Vladimir Afanasevich Shtokalo born September 12, 1924 in the village of Novo- Ivanovka Kabardino- Balkar ASSR . Lots of enthusiasm and began to draw Vladimir still a preschooler . The family reigned creative atmosphere : the love of music , reading books , participating in amateur . By demanding children are treated , and at the same time, parents early foresaw her son's fate : to be an artist . Therefore, in high school had plans to enroll in art school, but local leaders persuaded culture finish school course . It had to end the first year of the Great Patriotic War , and in 1942, Vladimir was sent to the front . In one of the letters VA Shtokalo recalled: "I do not want to die , even though at any moment in the battle , I could have been killed , many died as close as many of our comrades ! .. Yes, I wanted to study , I believed that I would learn dreamed day and night studying ." Perhaps it is the ability to draw and saved from death artist : hundreds of kilometers of roads military breakthroughs that followed after artpodgotovok were minutes and creativity. Vladimir made numerous drawings of their comrades , and at the end of the war was given the task to issue the House of officers of one liberated town.

Demobilized VA Shtokalo in 1947 , and in 1948 arrived in Saratov to go to art school. In a letter to the famous engravers IT Bogdesko so depicts the period of study in CFS : " They taught us, as you know - the older generation of teachers . They are no longer alive , and I with them tips! - Such a powerful bookmark they gave us . They taught us to think , to look hard. With the advent of our school VS Assumption , and then you, was made fresh stream in college lifestyle . " In 1953, VA Shtokalo finished Saratov Art College with honors.

It was necessary to work, the material side of life to dictate their terms , and VA Shtokalo began working as an artist - designer in the design departments of large factories in Saratov " Banner of Labor " and SEPO . This work opened a "green light" to participate in the All-Union exhibitions designer , gave the opportunity to attend professional workshops in Moscow, Leningrad , Kiev, Odessa, Minsk. However, the artist gave myself a word that his academy in easel painting will be hard work , training and work on yourself . Since 1957, became the head of Vladimir Afanasevich art studio at the club plant " Banner of Labor " and put this activity for 32 years. Many of his students later became artists, architects . VA Shtokalo remained true to his vow , often spending his leisure hours in the work in the open air . On vacation artist went to his home on the North Caucasus, where invariably brought colorful work.

Vicinity of Saratov , Volga landscapes also gave much food for creativity. "Production and strict production discipline precluded my direct participation in the exhibitions of the Union of Artists" - the artist wrote . However, personal exhibitions were , VA Shtokalo arranged them in the corridors of the factory design departments , and after the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the victory " was free for museum exhibitions in Radischevskaya and the Union of Artists ." Lot and be happy painter and communicated with their colleagues from other , due to the nature of directness , argued, deeply concerned for those whom fate has bestowed so mighty fortress spirit and principles. After retiring in 1984, Vladimir Afanasevich still worked for 11 years in production. A turbulent era of the 1990s proved to be fruitful in many ways , made it possible to devote itself to creativity , landscape painting. Subsequently, the artist participated in group exhibitions in museums visited on the opening day . March 17, 2012 VA Shtokalo died.

***

Living , holistic nature of the artist , in our opinion , well conveyed in his works. Albums with drawings and small sketches reveal to us a detailed and thoughtful work on each selected topic. Landscapes VA Shtokalo made in the tradition of the realist school , distinguishes stressed attention to nature. In some works the painter manages to convey the transience of its state border : dim winter sun "Winter . Oaks "(1991) , mist rising over the mountains " Caucasian Study "( 1980 ), quiet river spill at sunset " Sunny sunset on the Volga uzmore "(1988) . Works written in the North Caucasus , close to the principles of execution of monumental decorative art , pass temperament and grandeur of this region
