Help with attribution

I wonder if somebody would be able to help me. I have a painting and I’m having difficulties with the attribution. Basically I have an artist in mind, but as the style is different from his known works I’m unsure whether I’m right. I’ve been trying to look for clues like brushstrokes etc, but as I’m no expert I have no idea what exactly to look for and I also do not have the finances to have it chequed professionally. It’s a landscape painting with a figure leading a donkey or mule. The only thing I have found that might be something to rely on– apart from the subject matter which sort of fits in and the signature - is that there are some similarities in the way the figure’s garment folds are painted with a painting he had done in his early period. The artist is known to have gone through a change of style during the years I think the painting dates from and there’s very few works survived from this period with the exception of studies and sketches. I have attached a file with the figure from my painting on the left with close up detail, and the other painting from the earlier period. The figure on my painting is approximately 5-10cm, while the figure on the other painting measures approx 18 cm. The lines look similar to me, but it could be just a coincidence. I would really appreciate any input on this.
