Please visit the exhibition "Ay, Mikhnov" in the Collector's Gallery of Art DiDi (February 7 - March 19, 2013).
The exhibition is dedicated to the series "Tube". This technique was invented by the artist in 1956-59's. He gave her a name, with an emphasis on clean paint as a source of creativity: the essence of the method was squeezing paint onto the surface of the canvas directly from the tube.
Mikhnov covered white primed canvas geometrized forms such as zigzags, dots, ctrelochki, commas. He also used the ideographic script: stylized archaic figures of people and animals, images of simple organisms, like magnification, abstract schemes of labyrinths and missiles. Cam author defined "tubes" as "somnambulistic method" and "neokalligrafiyu."
The exhibition presents one of the eight large tubes (size 158h282 cm). Three of them are kept in the State Russian Museum, one of the New Museum in St. Petersburg, and the rest in private collections. This painting has never exhibited or published.
Mikhnov also created a technique of "Tube" a significant number of graphic works of small size, but they are surprised by a variety of techniques in a single method.
