The End of a Beautiful Era

Valery Lucca was born in 1945 in a village in pease Yaroslavl region. In 1977, he graduated at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Repin in Leningrad and also began his active artistic activity.

In the late 1970s, graduates of the Academy of Arts Vyacheslav Mikhailov and Valery Lukka with Felix Volosenkov declared themselves as creative group seeking, like all creative groups, the search for new means of expression. Thus, artists disowned well-known and revered tradition of painting, trying to approximate their work to life and turn them into something organic. Lucca scholar wrote several paradoxical characteristic of his manner - they called it a peculiar, individual style "conceptual expressionism."
