Exhibition "The dream of Paris" in Haifa.
Цитата:
"The dream of Paris" - the so-called symbolic and romantic new exhibition at the Haifa Museum Mane-Katz - museum, a year ago re-opened after renovation transformed. During this time, the museum has become a serious artistic and research center - after sleeping room for a few dozen years in the status of museum-apartment with dusty carpets and dusty memories, real treasures which were hidden in the vaults.
The first half of the 20th century, "Paris School", the phenomenon of Ecole de Paris, Jewish artists in Paris - these are the areas of the exhibition "Dream of Paris", which presents more than 100 works by 40 Jewish artists living in Paris. Among them - Marc Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani, Moiz Kisling, Chaim Soutine, Jules Paskina, Robert Falk, Michelle Kikoin, Eugene Zak Pinchus Kremen, Ossip Zadkine, Khan Orlova, Abram Minchin. And, of course, himself Mane-Katz, a former prominent figure in this vibrant company. It was in Paris crystallized his artistic vision and skill, it was in Paris, he created most of his works. School of Paris artists were not integrated or shared artistic goals, a single creative application. The main thing that connects them - the desire for freedom, search and communication, and Paris was for them synonymous with the free art world.
The main theme of the exhibition "Dream of Paris" - Jewish artists who played an important role in the Ecole de Paris. In addition to the direct purpose - bring aesthetic pleasure to visitors of the museum and art-lovers of the period, in this exhibition, there is another challenge: to try to understand - once, a thousand times - the identification of the Jewish artist in contemporary art, the Parisian bohemia and traction to the promised land, the traditional education and free way of life, which found immigrants from Eastern Europe (and not only them, and not only there) in Paris, the experience of the Jewish artist in a city striving to become "their" in the center of art of the time and save the Jewish spirit in the works.
Many Jewish artists gathered in one place at one time, the atmosphere they created in Paris, the reality of the time, so different from that of today - perhaps this is the Ecole de Paris with all the artistic richness and diversity of this group. Because the exhibition "Dreams of Paris" is built out of several planes, relationships: the Jewish experience, self-concept of the artist through the lens of the experience of living in the city, the artist's studio as a personal and creative space, and Paris as the center of the world, so to separate from the periphery, picturesque nostalgia for the game " Promised Land "- in Judaism and in the territory of avant-garde art. Indeed, in the first half of the 20th century, artists, unless they were in Paris, could not be seen as fully garde.
exhibition at the Museum Mane-Katz (Boulevard Yaffe Nof, 89, of Haifa) will last until October 15. Every Saturday at 12:00 pm in the museum offers tours in Hebrew. The closest Tours in Russian - June 2, at 11:00. Exhibition curator - Svetlana Reingold. Hours: Sunday to Thursday - 10:00 to 16:00, Friday - 10:00 to 13:00, Saturday - 10:00 to 15:00.
