People's Artist of Russia (1999), the Secretary of the Union of Russian Artists (1996). Professor. Chairman of the Moscow regional branch of the Russian Union of Artists.

   Born on 27.01.1942 in the town of Kashira, Moscow region. In 1959 he graduated from high school. In 1966 - the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art (former Stroganov). Since 2-year course deals with graphics, began working in newspapers and magazines. Degree work - monumental and decorative panels for the Library of Foreign Literature (head - the largest Soviet architect D. Chechulin)

   Since 1970, Kharlamov - Member of the Union of Artists. European fame was a cycle of illustrations for the novel by J. Swift's "Gulliver's Travels." For this work, the artist was awarded the First Prize at the International Exhibition in Czechoslovakia.

   Phenomenon in the cultural and social life became a cycle of prints devoted to the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Kulikov (1980). Widely reproduced, gained national popularity engraving "St. Sergius of Radonezh," "Prayer before the battle," "Duel with Peresvet Chelubeem," "After the battle," etc. The images of St. Sergius of Radonezh and then remains central to the artist.

   Forever remembered by those of the SM Kharlamov, as the album "The War of 1812," a series of "Resplendent in the Russian Land", color images, "In the Holy Land."

   In 2002 released album "The visible steps", where the artist acts as a talented writer, tells about the time and about himself.

   In 1995, Kharlamov became a laureate of the International Prize of St. Andrew Foundation.

            His works are kept at the State Historical Museum, State Museum of Fine Arts. AS Pushkin, Kiev State Russian Museum of Art, Sergiev Posad historical and art museum-reserve, many museums and private collections in Russia, Serbia, Italy, England, USA.
