April 8 Gao Ying, the artist's mother, in an interview with the Hong Kong edition of the "Yabloko" expressed its strong support of his son.
"Even if I was lead to the scaffold, I still cry: My son is an outstanding, he is good! I support him! ", - Said the 78-year-old Gao.
She also said that on April 7 Lu Qing, Ai Weiwei's wife went to the Public Security Department to submit to her husband medication because he had high blood pressure. But the officers did not accept the transfer and was told to send it by mail to their address.
"They have absolutely no conscience," - commented Gao.

She also said that the arrest of her son helped her to take a fresh look at many things happening in China, as well as to reconsider its attitude to the government.
An older woman said with regret that there was a party with 15 years' in anything without going and not thinking. " But what or estimate the regime refused to give it.
"I did not want to evaluate it [the party], I hope you understand me. Now I can only say that I believe in the Buddha, and I want to follow the path of Buddhism ", - said Gao.
Critics of the Communist government of China is called "enemies of the people and often their families are also subjected to pressure and various forms of repression. Therefore, the open support of opposition from relatives - this is a very risky step.

Gao Ke, sister of the artist told me that before his arrest, Ai Weiwei told that psychologically prepared for three things: jail, exile abroad and death, according to BBC in Chinese.

Gao Ying, the artist's mother is a writer. In 1956 she married the poet Ai Qing, and in the same year gave birth to a son. Ai Weiwei's childhood was during the Cultural Revolution, when intellectuals were repressed by the communist regime.
Their family, like many others, was sent to "reeducation" in the countryside in Xinjiang, where they became the lowest strata of the society they lived in very difficult circumstances. A few years later they have rehabilitated.
  It was after this, according to the artist's sister, Ai Weiwei always sympathized with the poor and disenfranchised sections of society and protect their interests, which causes constant frustration of the ruling regime.
"He said he did not so much that he is not afraid to do that, he was very afraid, but if you will not do that, you will feel an even greater fear" - says my sister.
Recall that the well-known, opposition to Beijing, the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was detained at Beijing airport on April 3, when he was about to fly to Hong Kong.

Only three days later under international pressure, Chinese authorities have confirmed the fact of his arrest, before he had been missing, and reported that Ai Weiwei is under investigation for "economic crimes".
