Wrote poetry and prose. I drew for the magazine "La Boheme" and designed the staging of the Petrograd Puppet Theatre. Illustrated the works of Poe and Fyodor Dostoevsky.
In the 1910's created a series of symbolist paintings, marked expression of color.
This picture belongs to 1910 years - the mature works of the artist, "dominated by two major trends:
the first is the picture or story, or a telling detail turned to mythology - the most ancient. The other group consists of portraits. Painting "Two" belongs to the second group, although the details of the mythological properties brings us back to the first. Head shows portrayed against the backdrop of ancient sculpture, or - more likely, an impression of a statue. Nevertheless, the picture is dominated by a portrait challenge "(Professor, Doctor of Arts D. Sarabyanov)
