He studied at Moscow University (1877-1882) and in parallel was a volunteer at the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture (?). In early 1880 he took lessons in painting VD Polenov, AA Kisileva. In 1898 he was seconded to the Imperial Geographical Society in Eastern Siberia, France (1900), the Caucasus (1901), on Mount Athos (1905) to create a series of landscapes. He lived in Yalta (1897-1907), working forester. Was a member of the Yalta city council and a member of the County Council. Worked in Bessarabia (1907-1908).
