Avilov Mikhail Ivanovich [6 (18) .9.1882, St. Petersburg - 04/14/1954, Leningrad], American painter, People's Artist of the RSFSR (1953), full member AH the USSR (1947). In 1904-13 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts at the FA Roubaud and NS Samokysha. Member artists of Revolutionary Russia (1923). Member of the First World War.
He worked mainly in the battle genre (the "Breakthrough of the Polish front of the First Cavalry Army in 1920, 1928, the Central Museum of Armed Forces of the USSR, Moscow;" Duel Peresvet with Chelubeem, 1943, the Russian Museum, Leningrad, USSR State Prize, 1946). In general, the work is devoted to znamenatelnyim Russian events and times of civil war. He worked as a graphic book, the author of many posters of the 20-ies of XX century.

He was awarded the Order of Labor Red Banner and medals.

Participated in exhibitions since 1908, including exhibitions of the Academy of Fine Arts, the Society named AIKuindzhi and others.

1921 - in teaching the art school of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts and the Academy of Arts.

1922 - teaches Lenigradskom Industrial Art College (in 1930)

1923 - Member of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia.

1944 - Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

1946 - Stalin Prize winner for "Duel Peresvet with Chelubeem on Kulikovo field.

1947 - full member AH the USSR. He teaches at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Repin in Leningrad (until death).

1953 - People's Artist of the RSFSR.

He was buried at the Alexander Nevsky Monastery.

He was awarded the Order of Red Banner of Labor, the medal.
