Painting by Pablo Picasso Nude on a background of green leaves and bust "was sold at Christie's for 106.482 million dollars, according to the site the auction house. The work of Picasso, created in 1932, thus establishing the absolute record prices for works of art ever sold at auction.

"Nude on a background of green leaves and bust" was part of the collection of Sidney Brody, put up for sale, conducted by Christie's in New York on the evening of May 4. The auction house did not announce before the auction, for which amount he expects to sell the work of Picasso, only hinting that he expects a new record.

The collection of Brody, put up for sale, there were also two works by Alberto Giacometti. "The Cat" (Le Chat), created by the Swiss sculptor in 1955, went under the hammer for 20.8 million U.S. dollars, and his work that same year - "large elongated head" (Grande tete mince) - was sold 53.28 million dollars at the Estima in 25-35 million.

The most expensive lots from the collection of Brody, sold at auction Christie's, came in and painting by the French artist Georges Braque "Grapevine" (La Treille, 1953-1954), pushed under the hammer for 10.16 million dollars with a preliminary estimate, 3-5 million.

Collection Brody, exhibited for sale in New York consisted of 27 lots - paintings, drawings and sculptures. Before the auction the entire collection expected to sell for $ 150 million. However, the result of trades exceeded all expectations - the collection went for 224.17 million dollars.
