Martin Rico Ortega, or Martin Rico Ortega (El Escorial, Madrid, 1833 - Venice, 1908) - Spanish painter, an outstanding landscape.
He studied at the School of the Arts of San Fernando, his teacher was Genaro Perez Vilyaamil. He was also a pupil of his brother, Bernardo, he studied technical drawing, illustrations and graphics. In 1854 he traveled to Europe: Paris, Switzerland, England, Italy. Gradually moving from realism to a kind of impressionism. The influence of Turner and Ruysdael helps him more and more to mitigate the landscape. His relationship with Mariano Fortuny deepens this change, the more light and Impressionist painting. One of his most famous works "Laundry workers. In 1907 was published his memoir: "Memoirs of My Life", dedicated to his friend, the landscape painter Aureliano de Beruete. |

Artem,
Class! That's because of these pictures you can see what it was at this place 100 years ago, although I'm not sure that there are its architecture and the countryside as barbaric as we do. |
