Royal Academy of Arts (London, UK) presents an exhibition of works by Vincent Van Gogh "This Van Gogh: the artist and his letter"
(from 23 January to 18 April 2010).
The focus of the exhibition a remarkable correspondence of the artist.

The exhibition features over 35 original letters, which are rarely exhibited to the public because of their fragility, and about 65 paintings and 30 drawings, reflecting the main themes that are found in the correspondence.

The exhibition organized by curator Ann Dumas, Royal Academy of Arts in London in collaboration with Leo Jansen, Hans Bakker Luten and Nina Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam.

Restoration of paintings by Vincent Van Gogh's "Bedroom at Arles" will be covered in the blog of Amsterdam's museum of the artist, according to an official press release. Canvas was written in 1888 during the life of Van Gogh in Arles.

In 2009 it was made a thorough study of paintings by specialists of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Netherlands (Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage) and the Museum staff, after which a plan of restoration work. In January 2010 the picture was taken from the exhibition hall.

According to the director of the Van Gogh Museum Ryugera Axel (Axel Ruger), "Bedroom" is one of the most famous paintings in the museum collection. The artist himself acknowledged in a letter to his brother Theo, that after treatment of a nervous disorder that is what the canvas seemed to him the best of the painted in Arles. Museum professionals point out that Van Gogh thoroughly picked up the track and shades of colors when working on a painting.

However, after writing the canvas was kept in poor conditions. Van Gogh was forced to lay on canvas newspapers that he is less affected by humidity in the artist's studio. In 1930 the painting was restored, but since then his condition has deteriorated significantly. The picture was in the waiting list for the restoration of the 1980's.
