He visited Lord Byron during his travels in the region, mention of Ali Pasha in French literature can be found in Victor Hugo, Alexander Dyumy and Balzac. His turbulent life attracted interest, and his great wealth and famous Harem become legendary. Fascinated by the personality of Ali Pasha and his love story with Kira Vassiliki, philhellenic many artists of that time portrayed them both, but this plot Jacobs became a model and has inspired many artists to create these paintings.
