When they say "Oriental Art", the first thing that comes to mind for most people - is a Japanese woodcut end XVII - the first half of the XIX century. That it is in the eyes of Europeans, the most striking features of the Oriental arts. Colorful, yet refined, exotic and clear on the content of engraving for the first time attracted the attention of artists and art lovers in the second half of XIX century. Japanese paintings attracted by Toulouse-Lautrec, Manet, Degas, Van Gogh. Getting it influenced the work of Russian and Soviet artists: Bilibio-on, Luba, Ostroumova-Lebedeva, Mitrokhin, Vereisk. Now Japanese prints has taken a worthy place among the major achievements of world art. Engravings of this period in contrast to the current is called classical.
