It is possible that the hand of one. Although the color they are very different, but one compositional device. Perhaps it's student sketch. Masonite exactly was in the early 60's, as well as He invented a little earlier and it is possible to date is ... It is worth notice that the canvas (I think of variants known as "Masons") is actually a very good material for a painting: a change of temperature and humidity, he reacts in a flash with the colors, ie, no cracks appear. This is a remark in the book of Professor Slansky "painting technique", he investigated the matter and it is confirmed by the artists. Unfortunately, the fashion canvas often makes paintings buyers refuse to purchase things on to hardboard, even if it is on canvas pasted on cardboard, which is generally very good, especially for small works.

A brief outline of the story:

The appearance of fiberboard

What is called hardboard? Keep in mind, cardboard - this is the fiberboard !!!

"In 1858, American Lyman was obtained the first patent for the production of fibreboard. A few years later, in 1864, another scientist named Munch came to think that the paper - this is essentially a very thin fiber board. They have been created for the installation of production plates without binder, with the help of hot pressing.

Improved method of producing fibreboard American Mason in 1924, quite by accident. The scientist had gone previously turned off the steam valve for hot pressing, but because of the failure of crane pairs continued to act in the press. Returning, Mason found in the installation of the slab is very high density. "

My father somehow communicated with restorers just on account of the topic. As I wrote above, canvas began to actively use the West in the late 20's - early 30-ies. We use began after the war about the late 50's, when adjusted manufacture. But it does not figure! Same conservators met the pre-war work done on hardboard, such Burachek (1871 - 1942). Tobish canvas in the Soviet Union was before the war ...

Yes, but the "thick" fiberboard used more builders and it ridge when wet, ie not suitable for artistic work. But dating is more important than another. Our artists are very long enjoyed official prdavavshimsya primed cardboard. It is easier, but it was important to travel. It written sketches.
