Alexander Viktorov Gallery Eye

Even today, May 25, closes an exhibition of photographs by Alexander Viktorov "Photographer of another time." The exhibition is a gallery Eye, the Lesser Ordynka 23.

Photographs in the exhibition was a bit, but even that was enough to feel the style photographer, his love for the form of articles, rather than the content, the penumbra, the contrasts of black and white. Much has been lyrical landscapes.
We even managed to chat with the owner of the work, the photographer's widow, Marina Viktorova.

 

Alexander Viktorov, born October 11, 1957 in Moscow. I became interested in photography at the age of 12. In addition, studied painting and graphics, and graduated from music school, viola. In 1980 he graduated from the International Department of the Faculty of Journalism and worked as editor of Radio and Television. Since 1981 - freelance photographer.

From 1988 to 1996, Alexander worked closely with the magazine, "Our Heritage". Shot mostly nature, architecture, works of art. Made a lot of albums, books, calendars, to sculpture, painting, decorative arts and architecture. All this he shot on color slides (from 6x9 to 18x24 cm), which are processed independently.
    However, in creative photography, he admitted only black and white image. Shot mostly landscapes, fragments of various natural formations and architecture, sometimes still-lifes. For the technical side of photography treated with special care, he tried to achieve the highest quality at all stages of the snapshot, so did everything himself: from drawing up solutions to the development of the profile molding for processing fingerprints. Used different cameras: Nikon, Leika, Rolleiflex, large format camera 9x12, 13x18, 18x24. Preferred Ilford film and paper, Agfa, as well as some sort of domestic photographic paper. Used the most sophisticated technology, toning and re-expression, but sought to ensure that the finished picture looks natural.
    Alexander did not consider themselves to any artistic direction and was not interested in fashion concept, in principle, did not attach significance to the plot, seeking, above all, to reveal a system of harmonic relationships inherent in the object portrayed, or use different objects as material for their own aesthetic constructions. Believed that the main thing in art - the beauty, and was absolutely agree with Oscar Wilde that the artist - someone who creates beautiful things. He was sure that
 "... Beauty - is the best part of the real world, namely that part which is not only there but also deserves existence," and defines beauty as the transformation of matter through the incarnation of her high spirituality.

Photo number 6 in the post 2, I, until I saw it a second time, considered a color - yellow-black, high-contrast.

In my opinion, Alexander Viktorov - a unique artist, now there are none.
