Default Exhibition "Artist's Book '(the curators - Boris Friedman and George Nikich)

Livre D'artiste /Artist's Book (http://mmoma.ru/exhibitions/zurab/kniga_hudozhnika/) - a new project of Boris Friedman and George Nikich.
Boris Friedman - one of the leading collectors "book artist" and certainly the chief popularizer of this particular genre in Russia. And this is not the first show, built on his material (plus more on the books of his fellow collector George Gens).

Recall that such a "book artist". This is a small-circulation publication, often executed with a manual press, in which the graph has equal status with the text. That is, the artist prepares the text is not subordinate semantic illustration, and offers an independent view on the part of the text. Usually "illustration" in the book of the artist - a subscription copyrights lithography. Pages are not a brochure - a set of sheets are usually embedded in a folder or a special wardrobe trunk. This book is designed as soon as a special piece of art for the application of reading is not intended. Sometimes for a unique edition of the book of the artist specially brewed a special paper and apply other technical innovations - see, for example, the enlarged image "blending" of paper in the book by Yuri Cooper.

In the current concept of the exhibition lies topic of cultural dialogue Russia-France, so a clear choice of names: "Russian Parisians" Andrew Lanskoy, Ivan Puni, Ossip Zadkine, Marc Chagall, Leopold Survage + our "sixties" who, after leaving work in France, Yuri Cooper and Edward Steinberg.

Experience: more like the rest of Chagall on the second floor and a candle Yuri Cooper. But to say that the book makes graphics downright stunning impression - palter. Its capabilities are limited. If a person is not a fan, not immersed in the topic of author's books, the "catch a wave", tune in to the hanging would not be so easy. And this problem is quite simple, in my opinion, is explained.

Still showing the artist's book - this intimate act (probably can be compared with the demonstration of Kabakov's album). It is important to be podragivaenie hand, admiration, reverence, a special atmosphere of mystery. That's when Friedman gets from a drawer and opens the "book artist" by Steinberg - yes, that special effect. And when the leaves fall from the coffer under the glass and get a museum highlighting, some energy, some sex books of the artist is lost. Unfortunately. On the other hand, need to be aware that other options to show these masterpieces to the general public does not - to mind nothing else but to put under the glass does not come.

The exhibition is on Tver Boulevard, 9 (ten minutes walk from the Arbat). Extended until 21 March. So if you want all succeed. "

Vladimir Bogdanov

By tradition, begin with "svetstkoy Chronicles":
Boris Fridman (businessman, collector, curator)
Organizers, Vasily Tsereteli (director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art), art historian Andrei Tolstoy (an expert on "Russian diaspora"), curator of the George Nikich.
The artist Leonid Tishkov. Known also works in oblastikn izhnoy illustrations. Interview with the artist Sergei Shutov.
Designer sixties Vladimir Nemukhin. By the way, good looks.
Types of exposure.
Recent entries to the genre "artist book" from George Nikich
Artist Yuri Kuper, sixties, "Russian Parisian" second wave. His work - in the exhibition.

Little slip of the pen - the exhibition is held at the Tver Boulevard, 9.

Most liked the illustrations Alekseeva - artist, little known in Russia.

A book with engravings Shara Renee de Stael (pretty scary) at the exhibition not?
Strangely, I have a pechatlenie that the Russians did not seem to know or have forgotten that Nicolas de Stael was Russian in origin - not least stemeni than any Lanskoy or Survage - but in artistic terms, these names are simply not comparable.

Did we have written many times. And as director-info wrote. And pay attention, when we were in Moscow, his work brought for sale within the salon MWFAF. Masterpieces, among other things. Auctions is the most expensive sale de Stael - just above A $ 3 million to enter the top-17 auction results and Larionov move from last place you need about 5 million. In general, will soon enter the top and then everyone will know

Verevkina was born in Tula, in an aristocratic family. Her father - a general, hero of the Crimean and Russian-Turkish war, was later commandant of the fortress.
And de Stael's father, also Baron, incidentally, was the commandant of the fortress.
The latest in RI, as commandant appointed himself emperor. And the whole family lived in the commandant commandant's house, there is even close, and the commandant's cemetery, where 14 commandants.
