In the past year - a half there "invasion" Sotheby's, Christie's and other auction houses in Russia. Pre-auction displays (including the Tretyakov Gallery, and even in the private gallery - Philipps de Pury ustraval thumbs in Regina, which in itself is nonsense), the opening of representative offices (now the turn Bukowski), presentation at the Embassy (as he did in Stockholm AD before the Russian auction ) ... In this case, for example, Kamensky (Sotheby's-Russia, CIS) explicitly stated that the auctions in Russia is not yet scheduled.
Interestingly, it is simply an active public relations, aimed at ensuring that Russian buyers draw on their auctions, or all the same they have any far-reaching plans for entering Russia art market ... It would be interesting to know the opinion of the forum on the subject. |

I think that the auction might not require a Moscow marketplace and local art vacuum cleaners, which should draw masterpieces with the local market. Noticeable that with the outstanding things to auktsonah was tight. And there is an office, where you can come and agree to participate in an auction to sell an expensive thing expensive. Is convenient. With such a market can not work on short visits. And here is easier to trade in London, where there is a predictable laws, predictable route, stifled, corruption, waste procedures. All built for centuries. And confidence to London more. What of the following can boast of Moscow?
I say that in my opinion, so everything will remain. Consultation office in Moscow, the presentation in Moscow, and the auction itself - in London. Maybe somewhere in the thread Barvikha spend a couple of auctions, but is that as a PR. |

Interestingly, under what conditions they would take a picture, if they liked it? I understand that the export of paintings abroad with all the attendant zamorochkami (expertise, insurance, customs and transportation), they should take. And the cost of this, of course, deduct from the final sum payment of the owner (well, of course, not forgetting their interest). And maybe even just take the money for services.
Interestingly, too, how then will pay the money the owner? In which country, in what currency? As will be drawn up a contract for all their services? Questions mass. |

Yesterday watched Euronews reportage about the art market.
All representatives artbiznesa in one voice spoke about the difficulties with sales, it is with sales. And with their words of eastern Europe and increasingly Russia, now is a growing market. Type grown rich people - it's time to think about spiritual things, or the attachment. Hence, the activity of auctions we have. As for trades here - while unlikely. The main stream of pictures out here, and not vice versa. Here the picture is not enough. |

I believe that auctions thus attract the attention of people living here. All they hear that that's somewhere in London are traded Sotheby's and Christies, but just the other auction houses do not know, so it's more marketing trick auctions, rather than having the goal of trade here.

I also think that the marketing ploy. Now here and in Ukraine.
But just do not understand why, for example, in Hong Kong trading spend, and we do not .... |

We do not conduct auctions, because when the importation of pictures for commercial purposes must pay tax (which I do not remember, but decent). I sold not sold, and already paid. And plus all afraid of our customs. And article, I know that after the first "Salon des Beaux Arts" in some galleries have trouble at customs. This, inter alia, due to the lack of big western galleries to salon near the end of May.

Yes it is interesting about the first salon. Simply, for example, last year there was some sort of special "customs zone" where the act to specific rules. But the essence of the system, I honestly do not understand.

Unfortunately, detailed inside information do not have, but what I can add. Until recently (last year) salon, work processed for temporary importation. And problems have arisen on the export, many (not a gallery) paintings hang for a long time, so that some did not have time then to Basel. Specifically, I will not mention, quickly, to cross with people. At last year's Salon, like, the organizers have agreed to read the entire arena customs zone, that is, it turns out that the pictures do not pass customs. And if sold and out of the arena, there is a route with a 18%tax on my. |
