Default Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikyan

Good day everyone!
Perhaps the forum has been lecturing about Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikian? However, one more time I think did not hurt.
I really like his paintings.

"There are people who come into this world is formed by artists, bringing a unique, comprehensive and holistic microcosm of whom remain loyal to the end of life. ... Bazhbeuk was the greatest artist" - so wrote about the work of artist Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikian sculptor Ervand Kochar.

July 20, 1966 in Tbilisi, died of a famous Armenian painter Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikian. He left it in the life of quiet, and, according to the present, even said: "I am a happy man. I was lying in a clean bed, surrounded by his children and his paintings.

He lived a peculiar and isolated life: often went to the circus, like unlike the everyday life - a fantastic and unusual, like Giorgione, Goya - his shining in the darkness of color, his stunning women who love fun. "Belated Epicurean" - so named it Yervand Kochar.

"He loved to paint, and when the fans and the artists gave him a set Lefranc - for him it was the biggest holiday. He saw them, sang with joy, beaming, delighted, organized the parade tubes - "Parade Allais". Paints carefully packed, poured wax, and went to the trunk, and a small number of them went to the "current account". In this same chest-he was hiding an unfinished work, then on to a fresh look to better understand and continue. Once he received an order for a portrait Lenina.Studenty (he then led a composition class at the Art Academy of Tiflis) asked him whether he would be painting a portrait of your favorite lefranovskimi colors. Bazhbeuk replied: "Even then, I'm going to spend Lefranc Lenin!". He was immediately expelled from the Academy and the students have lost their beloved teacher. "- The artist's daughter Lavinia in the book about my father."

1913 .- after two years in the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, his call to the army and sent to the Austrian-Romanian front.

1919 .- returning home, together with Lado Gudiashvili he opens the first exhibition in Ayartune. At the exhibition, he met with the "beautiful Persian" Nectar, which soon became his wife. Had a daughter, Lavinia. A few years later they divorced, but nectar, while continuing to love her husband and left alone until the end of life.
Bazhbeuk married Lydia Meshkorudnikovoy, they had two children - daughter and son Zuleyka Vazgen.

1935 .- in the Art Gallery of Armenia R. Drampyan organizes his first personal exhibition. The exhibition attracted great interest among the more unfamiliar with the work of Bazhbeuka Yerevan intellectuals and was a complete success. "Unexpected Joy" - wrote about the exhibition Lilya Brik. And just beside the other hand is written: "would buy the weakest of the paintings, do not eat at the best - their place in the Tretyakov Gallery". Then he meets Charents. "The most interesting man I have not seen" - says the artist.
1937 .- year of repression and persecution. In the newspaper "Dawn of the East" published an article where Bazhbeuka called "enemy of the people." Friendship with Charents (who was shot) and Titian Tabidze was more than sufficient reason for the NKVD. "Dad was waiting with fear of arrest.

Thank God, it's over ... "(Lavinia Bazhbeuk-Melikyan). His "only" expelled from the Artists' Union of Georgia. Then, once in love with the country of Cervantes, Velazquez, Zurbaran and Goya the artist painted "The Spanish guerrillas, called it" relevant "and restored to the Union.

Yes, it has fallen, and participated in battles on the fields of the first imperialist war, and post-revolutionary chaos and famine, and humiliating press Beria informers, and always lack of money, and the frenzy of work life in a single tiny room in a dilapidated house. But not these external events of interest - the life of the artist is not spoiled, mostly always been just creativity. It was a rare uncompromising artist with painful demanding to take their creativity. It is estimated that members of the family he created nearly two thousand paintings, of which remained at about two hundred. Others he destroyed with all the ruthlessness. "In 1936. I have a catalog of his works - they were 110. In 1966., In the year of his death, left 110 works. It is a constant passionate work .... When a new job, he looked at the wall - sought out the weak now, it dealt strictly and ruthlessly destroyed. After all, it was necessary to release the wall place (Lavinia Bazhbeuk-Melikyan). "Perhaps if he had a studio in 100sq.m., Then the paintings would have remained much more" (Zuleyka Bazhbeuk-Melikyan)
It is possible that he later regretted their deed. In any case, in a letter Minaçu he wrote: "Dear Minas, tips, of course, a boring thing, but let us give you one: not to part with his work in the future you will be sorely regret ...".

In all his works there is unbridled vitality and passion. They do not leave it up until he could keep kist.I he worked and worked until the end of his days, seeing it as the only salvation. His body is weakened by illness (he died of cancer and gangrene) are still reminded of its impermanence, and the eternal was near. On canvas and paints. There lived the soul of the creator ..
