Ivan Sotnikov (Father John) was born in 1961, a formal artistic education is not received. Visited while studying in school children's art school, not studied at a vocational school with a photographic bent. As an artist, Sotnikov formed very early, to twenty years his style has fully matured. Widely known "in the narrow circles" connoisseurs of painting Leningrad underground Ivan bought back in the early 1980s as a member of numerous exhibitions TEII (Association of Experimental Fine Art), as well as exhibitions organized by Timur Novikov of the "New Artists" (perhaps the three most significant artists this group - Timur himself, Oleg Kotelnikov and Ivan Sotnikov). And Sotnikov always gravitated to Mitko, since 1986 regularly exhibited at the exhibitions of the group, and just friends with many Mitka. We can say it was the most Mitkovskaya artist of the "new" and the most "new" from Mitkov. The range of subjects is wide enough Sotnikova painting: a large part of his legacy are landscapes with views of St. Petersburg, across rural landscapes and still lifes, at least - portraits happen images of fish, birds and other animals. I remember a large series of paintings about the long black car. Since the mid-1980s, Ivan Sotnikov began working at the church in the village Vyritsa. First there was a security guard and then - over time - became a deacon. And then he was ordained a priest by the name of John's father, in which the state and remains now, serving in a rural village church boarded-Netylsky Novgorod diocese.
