The exhibition of Ilya Orlov, "Genevieve"

Since 16 February to 11 March in AL Gallery will be an exhibition of Ilya Orlov, "Genevieve".

 A new project by Ilya Orlov, "Genevieve," which is a logical continuation of last year's "country road". The author continues the development of landscape painting vocabulary, speaking on the actual language of art and avoiding the salon prettiness.

 In the medieval legend of Genevieve Brabant all moves recorded. Genevieve slandered and accused of adultery, and was nearly executed. Do not executioners raised a hand. Genevieve was hidden in the woods, until one day her husband accidentally met her while hunting. Libel opened, the villain was punished, justice is done.

This story has inspired the German romantics. Landscape painter and book illustrator Adrian Richter dedicated a touching melancholy picture. Teak Ludwig wrote in her explanation of the drama, and Robert Schumann - his only opera. The hero of "In Search of Lost Time," Marcel Proust's childhood remembered the legend of libel and just retribution. Eventually it turned into a fairy tale, despite the fact that in the folklore of different nations like the story spread. Tell it again, and were used so often in so many different circumstances, that fifteen or twenty years ago, got out of it would be an exemplary postmodernist project.
  
But the exhibition of Ilya Orlov about another. We see a landscape of different formats: horizontal and vertical, narrow and broad, square and rectangular panel paintings, knocked in two stands. But only a few can use it, speaking the language of contemporary painting and avoiding the salon prettiness of things.

This breaks up into pieces and jumps from one register to another stylistic speech sounds angular and lively. It seems that in different ways, it would say the same story, most clearly and fully embodied in the greatest work. It presents all of the major reasons for the project: The road that goes in the thicket, lush green old trees, turning into a kaleidoscope of colorful, fragmented images, and the melancholy figure of Genevieve, which made an excuse and slander of the beloved life partner in a fetish of loyalty. Meanwhile, it is not the product key, which was put next to the sketches and preliminary options. Before us is not an exhibition, the reconstruction of the artist's studio, inviting the viewer to look into his creative laboratory. The great thing summarizes the rest of the work, not being the final outcome, since it can not be understood without them, and is part of the overall design. Conception exhaust the fullness of the experience of painting, to connect to the existing potential energy in it matches.
