At first glance shows a U.S. soldier.
Raises doubts and signed - a letter written e rare.
All IMHO, all with the come!

"There is a legend that the popularization of the letter" e "was influenced by Joseph Stalin. According to her, 6 December 1942 on Stalin's signature brought to an order in which names of several generals have been published with the letter" e "instead of" e ". Stalin was into a rage, and the next day in all the articles of Pravda suddenly appeared the letter "e". "

Below-Russian gendarmerie.

The letter E was introduced in the alphabet 29 (18) November 1783. On this day the general meeting of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences has approved the proposal of the Director of Princess ER Dashkova to replace the combination of «io» on a new letter - "e".

December 24, 1942 order of the People's Commissar of Education of the RSFSR was compulsory use of the letter "e" in school practice. To our knowledge, this order, no one has ever repealed.

All of this just a historical reference. As for the pictures provided, it is quite unremarkable western daub with ridiculous vkatannoy signature.

"Although the letter" e "was proposed in 1783, a separate letter a long time it was not considered in the ABC is not officially included. It is common for the newly introduced letters: such as a sign of status and" th ", which, in contrast to the" e , was required to eat since 1735.
Formally, the letter "e" and "th" included in the alphabet (and got the serial numbers) only in the Soviet time (not counting the "New Alphabet" by Leo Tolstoy (1875), in which the letter "e" stood at 31 th place.

December 24, 1942 order of the People's Commissar of Education of the RSFSR was compulsory use of the letter "e" in the school practice, and since that time (sometimes, however, mention the 1943 or even 1956 year, when they were first published normative rules of spelling) she is officially member of the Russian alphabet. All this is only partly true, the letter was a formal, but the practice of mandatory use appeared only in the Soviet times. Of course, you can find examples of her uportebleniya, but believe philologist, deliberate use of the letters e, ekane was considered mauvais ton, philistinism.

In my view this is hardly American.
Similar to an ordinary infantry of the Russian army the mid 19 th century.
