Why do you say that your icon refers to the style of "modern" (aka "art nouveau", as he "Jugendstil")? He almost never occurs in religious art Orthodox church. With a big stretch to it you can, perhaps, consider a church Alexis in Thais near Petersburg, but there is an icon - in the canonical style. And in the West Nouveau style in religious art, though not so rare, but still have to search. An example of Art Nouveau (northern) - Church Engelbrekt in Stockholm (Engelbrektskyrkan). A salary for your icon is made, rather, in psevdodrevneslavyanskom style, popular in Russia at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries.

Of course, expect from the icon-painter, the creator inspired by Art Nouveau, Iver, for example, a la Mucha funny, but the murals and icons Nesterov, Vasnetsov, Vrubel ample, to talk about art nouveau in the religious art of the Orthodox Church. " Yes, you walk around on the internet, many examples, the mass. And if the letter itself could be called academic, the salaries are too well that easy to find modern modernism. ![]() Добавлено через 23 минуты Amateur, forgive, but Vasnetsov in Kiev is not modern? Vasnetsov's paintings, as well as work Vrubel at St. Cyril's Church, but rather can be attributed to the style of "national of Russian Romanticism," than to "art nouveau", ie to modernity. Even the time-they are written before the advent of this style, because they were created in 1884 (Vrubel) and from 1885 to 1896 (Vasnetsov). As you mentioned Alphonse Mucha and his no less gifted followers in France, Germany, Russia and other countries worked in the period from 1895 to about 1914, after which the modern "out of fashion." Or do you think that here, "Russia - the native land of elephants?" And we saw in your salary ... But under hypnosis, perhaps we could see the modern. But in the very first to me, for some reason, more seen pseudo style, among other things, popular at that time, when and modern. And themselves salaries are good, no matter to which style they belong.
