Default Pavel Petrovich Ivanov, and easier - Paul Mak

Pavel Petrovich Ivanov (1891 -1967) Studied at the studio KF Juon in Moscow. He soon became famous cartoonist under the pseudonym Paul Mac, not just in their own time of black and white "picture" to notice the funny characters and Nicholas Roerich, and Vaclav Nezhinsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Michel Fokine, who knew and loved. And their work printed in major journals of the Moscow Theater in cartoons "," Footlights and Life "," Satyricon "... Many of them are now unlikely to be found. All are so accustomed to his signature under the work - MAK, that familiar, instead of the usual name is Paul, told him: "Hey, Mac!", "How are you, Mac?". The monograph Sidorova about him just a few words: "talented, but the painful artist." "Painful" Mack was in his drawings, technically fulfilled, full of erotic, chimeras, strange fantasies. All in the spirit of Symbolism. Images similar to Beardsley, and at the same time quite different. Mack keen then just logged into vogue tango. His partner was a famous dancer, singer tango Elsa Kruger. Suddenly Pavel Petrovich left Moscow and went to Kiev, a military school, after which, already an officer, went to the front. At the end of the war he was captain of the 89th White Sea infantry regiment. There, during one of the battles, the now famous "Brusilovskogo breakthrough, Maku severed leg. Orderlies, fortunately, finding the wounded man killed, yet put him near the hospital tent, only to bury. There, and found it obscure to us now a doctor who made an amazing operation. Without any medication he so masterfully "stitched" Mack the leg, after a few months he has been able to walk, although it did so with great difficulty - the leg was shorter than ... six centimeters. What, however, did not prevent the artist soon to receive the title of the rider Class 4 ...
Returning from the front, Pavel Ivanovich got into a new trouble. In 1918, Mack's nearly shot by the Bolsheviks for the appearance on the streets of Moscow with the king's orders received for bravery in the Russian-German front. Saved him ... ability to draw. The guards, leading him to be shot, but Mack was sitting in the Butyrka, argued: if narisuesh anyone of us - let him go. Drew. Released. In 1920-1921 he worked as a stage designer at the Theater of Revolutionary Satire, Moscow. After emigrating in 1922, Mack more than 20 years was a court painter Shah of Iran. In 1913, Mack painted the famous Natalia Goncharova. A portrait of himself - in Orel, in the Art Museum of the Russian city. In mid-1930's artists began to live in Belgium. After the Second World War, he regularly participated in exhibitions in Brussels and other Belgian cities, and in 1958 received the Gold Medal of the Brussels World Society for his work shown in the Iranian pavilion. Ivanov died in Brussels in 1967.

Default This discovery of the recent trades

According to AI - an artist with good market prospects. Perhaps we are witnessing the beginning of price growth, the artist recently shot at the auction with a chic work.
Luxurious "Russian Beauty" Paul Mack went within estimate - 23,8 thousand pounds in assessing 18-25 thousand. Six months ago she brought 19,2 thousand euros on the Belgian auction De Vuyst.

PAUL MAC Russian Beauty
1945. Oil on canvas. 65,5 x 54,5
Sotheby's. 10.06.09. Lot number 439
Estimate: 18-25 thousand pounds
Forecast AI: 21 thousand pounds
Result: 23,8 thousand pounds

To my taste - too nice, but collectors like it.

Hi Vladimir, I have a painting by Paul Mak 1944. In your opinion where would be the best auction house to use to put it up for sale?
Regards.
