He was born in Tuapse in the Krasnodar Territory in 1930.
He studied at Krasnodar Art College (1948 -1950 years.) Dnipropetrovsk State Art College (1954 - 1956 years.) Kharkov State Art Institute (1956 - 1962 years.).
Artist - painter of battle-pieces. The highest shock for the artist was the Great Patriotic War, these experiences and are reflected in his work. Main themes egorabot Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol.
He served in the Navy reserve officer. Participant exercises "Ocean" (1970).
In 1952 he participated in the All-Union Exhibition of Artists of the fleets of the USSR in Moscow. Member of Republican, Union and international art exhibitions.
In 1967 he was admitted to the Union of Artists.
1975-1982 GG member of the Sevastopol City Council of People's Deputies of 3 convocations.
In 1983 he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Artist of Ukraine", was awarded many honorary diplomas.
His works are stored in 12 museums in the Crimea. Ukraine and Russia, as well as in private galleries in England, USA, Turkey, Germany. His works were purchased by the Ministry of Culture, Art Fund of Ukraine, the Directorate of exhibitions and dioramas of Ukraine. Reproductions of the artist's works were printed in the journals Obrazotvorche Mistetstvo "(Kyiv)," Ukraine "," Dnipro "," Sea collection (Moscow), "Soviet soldier" (Moscow), "Warrior of Russia" (Moscow). Many of the pictures served as illustrations for books on military subjects.
From 1990-1992, Kovalenko Victor Karpovich - the first chairman of the city organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
