Over the past few years Moscow has passed a series of exhibitions Alexander Labasa (1900-1983), in which the legacy of the famous Russian artist was presented, it would seem, in exhaustive detail. Nevertheless, the Exposition opens at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, opens up another facet of the master - can say with certainty that such Labasa no one has yet seen.

The exhibited works were not intended for exhibitions and would seem disparate sketches and sketches - but, taken together, they form a separate cycle. The attentive and leisurely look curator of the collection (the author of the concept of the exhibition - the artist's widow, son, Raymond Labas) allowed to combine these works not only thematically but also stylistically.

They show that in the last years of his life painting of Alexander Labasa finds new artistic quality. In some works of these years, reminiscent of the works of his famous contemporaries - Alexander Tyshler. This similarity has no borrowings and quotations, this is the result of independent and internal laws of the artistic process.
Fifty years later, shows that the individual works Labasa as if anticipating the work of his younger contemporaries, such as Anatoly Zverev.
