The famous auction house Christie's was accused of selling counterfeit wine

Цитата:
The world is not so much the auction house's reputation, experience and taste where you can rely. These authorities, of course, include Christie's. However, it seems, the famous organization seriously discredited itself, putting on sale fake wine.
According to the edition of Wall Street Journal, last week the court entered a lawsuit against the auction house Christie's of billionaire William Koch, according to whom, Christie's "involved in gang activity, together with a German named Meynhard Gerke enjoying alias Hardy Rodenstok. According to the plaintiff, H. Rodenstok is the creator of many counterfeit wines from the most prestigious manufacturers in the world.
As stated in the declaration, for decades, the fraudster has collaborated with Michael Broadbent, the former head of the wine department of Christie's and his chief advisor auction house today. M. Broadbent allegedly used his respected position in order to recognize the authentic fake wine and sell it at high prices, increasing profit Christie's. By the way, last year alone, the auction house had sold wine to the amount of 40.9 million dollars.
Sam M. Broadbent gets into trouble is not the first time. In October last year he managed to win a lawsuit with the publishing house, published a book by Benjamin Wallace's "Vinegar billionaire" (The Billionaire's Vinegar "). The book writer is not the best way to represent M. Broadbent, also referring to the topic of sale of counterfeit products.
This whole saga has its roots in the distant 1985, when Christie's put on sale wine party XVIII century, together with H. Rodenstokom claiming that it belonged to American President Thomas Jefferson. H. Rodenstok insisted that he had bought wine from a private owner, who discovered it in an abandoned basement in Paris. Then the wine experts and historians studying the biography of Thomas Jefferson, expressed doubts about the original findings.
