The British tax office has received as payment for the estate tax on a statue of Edgar Degas' Dancer, looking at the right foot, "the website reported BBC News.
The statuette was estimated at 175 thousand pounds. Payment is made possible by the program "Acceptance In Lieu", which allows taxpayers to pay the inheritance tax, transferring state property valuable art objects and archival materials. As told Culture Minister Margaret Hodge (Margaret Hodge), thanks to this program in the last century "were rescued by the beautiful objects of art and valuable objects of our heritage." For example, in 2009, among the works taken as taxes, were paintings by Titian and David Hockney. Total available to the British Government in 2009 under the program "Acceptance In Lieu" received art worth around 20 million pounds.
