Default Prosecution photographer Umida Akhmedova in libel and insult of the Uzbek people "

when I read the message on the accusation of the photographer Umida Akhmedova in libel and insult of the Uzbek people "
and looked through her reporting http://albatrossdoc.livejournal.com/32789.html,
immediately wanted to write about it on the forum.
But beloved (he reported this has no idea) Lev Rubinstein operedil.Pochitayte. Useful ...

with a sense of pride illegal

When I read that in Tashkent trial started on the accusation of a famous photographer and documentary filmmaker Umida Akhmedova to "slander and insult of the Uzbek people," and that "the charges were brought against the artist for the photo-report about daily life in Uzbekistan," I that and of course, first found on the Internet referred to photo essay.

I consider myself more or less old file. I grew up after all, where I grew up, but not in Montreal, not in Zurich, not in London or even in Warsaw, some understood what was involved and that the old empire could be classed as defamation and insult . There is no real defamation I certainly was not expecting, but still waiting for some, so to speak, "Soft and Hard", in which, say, incidentally, is also not inclined to see anything that even some modern man could be interpreted as "insulting" , the more "insulting the nation".

Not at all. No "Chernuhi-porn" there is not even close to lying. And there lay the warmth, humanity, unthinkable beauty and touching in their excessive love for their native places. Leafing through these pictures, I instantly forgot about "the trial" and the "defamation of insults." I thought only: I'm so sorry that I once never got into these incredible places, and how to arrange so that after all there to visit. And, of course, loomed in the memory of a running line: "What I did for the dirty trick, I am a murderer and a villain?" I made the whole world weep at the beauty of my land. "

This, we have a slander.

However, the logic of "insulting and slandering" I understand. This logic is based on deeply archaic representation of any image as the image of the festival, parade and colorful yielding abundance. You depict me? Take pictures? So фотографируй me in a smart coat and skullcap in a new, not sweaty, half-naked, with a hoe in his hand. This is slander. Insulting. And okay to me alone. People. Do you know how it smells?

Beautifully's not what happens in reality, not what we see every day, and what does not happen, but it would be nice to make it. However, the aesthetics of socialist realism was all built on this simple enough principle.

But a few years ago I discovered the Internet another photo essay. Of the neighboring countries of Uzbekistan, from Turkmenistan. There is no libel was not even close. There, on the contrary, it was all true to hurt one's eyes. There fountains, against which the smiling girls in colorful dresses and with books in their hands. They ascended to heaven golden statues of Turkmenbashi the Great and Wise. There festive shiny stall, as if inflated with a straw, but were not yet burst, and children.

Frankly speaking: for me Examining these pictures - pure childish joy. How familiar melody kindergarten. How nostalgic cabbage-feline spirit of the gate. As discovered by accident in suburban attic Binder Ogonyok for the fifty-second year. Well, of course, not one to one - after all, these pictures are made with a strong oriental accent. But how can they rhyme with joyful, simple sensations of fifty years ago, and so rhymed. What brilliance! What a delicacy! What, finally, delight!

Western people can only regret. They have this experience, no. They still can not understand our children's enthusiasm for the magazine "Korea", which we once read out, zalistyvali and stare into holes. They do not understand that there is light at the place where the love of everyone's father is not only not ashamed, but cultivate it with the primordial passion. They do not understand that when the beloved leader of the nation constantly stroking, potselovyvaet, poschupyvaet yes pinch little children of both sexes - it is not pedophilia, but only the paternal concern about the future of the people. They do not understand our complex feelings with which we are looking at these - such and such distant relatives - images. But the complexity of this feeling is that we are on the one hand reminded of his past (and these memories will inevitably ностальгичны), on the other - forced to take pride in the fact that there are somewhere in something that is worse than us.

Such troubled pride we felt in the late 60's, reading about the cultural revolution in China. "We need the same - we said - sometimes, it turns out, something worse. We are still not the worst."

That's the same about the bitter, shameful, pitiful, ambiguous pride I feel when reading news about the "defamation and insult of the Uzbek people and thinking about what we though it seems, but still not so. No - not so.

Lev Rubinstein

And this picture - just a class! This is not "medvedev-photographer "...
