The Hermitage has opened an exhibition of portraits of artists

On Tuesday, July 14, 2009, in the Twelve of the State Hermitage Museum opened an exhibition "Fecit ad vivum. Portraits of artists in Western engraving XVI-XVIII centuries. According to Interfax, it is presented to one hundred works from the museum collection, with part of them are exhibited for the first time. The exhibition will run until September 27.
Today the collection of engravings of portraits of the cabinet of the Hermitage is one of the largest in the world: it consists of 65 thousand sheets. Most of the collection was formed even under Catherine II, in 1919, it received the collection of the numismatist Iversen and other nationalized private collections.
Among the exhibits RIA Novosti mentions the work of Jean-Baptiste Oudry, Jan merchant, David Teniers the Younger, Quentin de La Tour.
