Tyumenev was artistically gifted in kind, but did not study for the sake of the craft artist to earn his daily bread, but rather for the sake of pleasure.
In 1887 Tyumen acquired in the province of Novgorod manor "Freedom". Later this corner of the Russian land has become a sort of a place of pilgrimage amateurs and connoisseurs of folk art. Andrew Ryabushkin settled there for a long time in a small house, which was built specially for him.
This photo was captured in 1889 when a friendly feast in the name of "Freedom". Toasts, standing - JF Tyumenev, second from left - Belyaev, Basil (?), Third from left - Andrew Ryabushkin, the extreme right - SF Svetlov.

The painting - Winter night in the manor (Freedom). Cardboard, oil. 1893.
"In the month of July 1926 I managed to implement its long-standing desire to visit those places where long lived, worked and died a great painter Andrey Ryabushkin, whose work is closely linked to nature and history of the Novgorod region. He lived, as mentioned above, in the Freedom Manor, located about 20 km from the station Luban Okt.zh.d. and owned by JF Tyumenev, writers, artists, and a big soul mate Andrei Petrovich ... The main house in Freedom wooden, one-story with mezzanine, its facade was converted into the courtyard farmstead. Before the house there was a vast, overgrown with grass lawn, with traces of flower beds. The house was empty and lonely. Wallpaper on the wall showed signs hanging here once paintings and family photos. "
