After years of research by internationally recognized artist working in the genre of classical realism, Jenness Cortez announced the completion of the restoration of the image of the "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci, reports Artdaily.com. According to the artist, her painting shows how great the painting could look like in the beginning of the XVI century. However, she noted that in any case no claim on the comparison of his work with the original brushes da Vinci. "But in this project I have put all their knowledge, experience, intuition, imagination, passion and skill. <…> I like to think that I helped the same little naughty moose, and Leonardo, when he painted this picture. I hope this imaginary Lisa will give pleasure to all who see it.", she added. According to scientists and Museum curators, in its history of existence "Mona Lisa" has undergone numerous changes, the reasons were: the darkening and yellowing varnish; the disappearance of unstable pigments; natural chemical processes affecting the original paint colors; excessive cleaning and the influence of air humidity on the Board that says picture. Cortez was based on laboratory data of the French Centre for Museum studies and restoration, obtained in 2004. After analyzing them, as well as historical information, a copy of the "Mona Lisa" made by contemporaries of Leonardo, and using their personal artistic experience, she tried to return the picture to its original look. So, the 500-year changes in color lacquer distorted colors and blurring fine detail. Therefore, many parts of the paintings were clarified and made more vibrant. Special attention was paid to blue, brown and green tints, which, according to the study, suffered the most. Were slightly adjusted and the General tone of the picture. In this Cortez was guided by the Centre for Museum studies and scientific views about changing the colour of the pigments with the passage of time. Restored some details, which were destroyed during the early, overly intensive cleansing - for example, shadows on the face.
