Russian Soviet painter and graphic artist, art theorist, avant-garde.
He studied at the Stroganov School of Industrial Art (1898 - 1908), the Paris Academy R. Julien, and E. Carriera (1905 - 1906), as well as at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1908 - 1909), where among his mentors AE were Arkhipov
and KA Korovin.

He started as an impressionist and symbolist, passed through passion futurism, primitivism and pointless. His theory. After the 1917 revolution, he worked in the Commissariat of Education (1918 - 1921), taught at the Free Art Workshops (1918 - 1929). He took an active part in the device Museum of Artistic Culture in Moscow and Leningrad. Since 1941, head of the department of painting
