Lev Abramovich Chazz (real name Katz, 29 April 1914, Chisinau Bessarabia province - October 17, 1980, ibid) - Moldavian Soviet art critic, literary scholar and critic. Doctor of Philology (1960), Professor of the Kishinev State University.

Leo Katz was born in Chisinau, the Romanian graduated high school there. In 1939 he graduated from the literary and philosophical faculty of the University of Jassy. With the annexation of Bessarabia to the USSR in 1940 he returned to Kishinev, worked as a teacher. During World War II - taught at secondary school in Georgia.

Under his real name (Lev Abramovich Katz) since 1945 has taught at the Department of general literature in Chisinau Pedagogical Institute named after I. Creanga and since 1960 - at the Chisinau State University.
