Grandson of the famous Russian writer Vladimir Krestovskogo (1840-1895), author of the novel "Petersburg slums." From 1937 to 1941 Jaroslav Krestovskiy engaged in the Art School at the Russian Academy of Arts, KM Lepilova, OB Bogaevskaya, MD Natarevich. After returning from evacuation in 1944 he entered the painting department of the newly opened Leningrad Higher School of Industrial Art. In autumn 1945 there was a tragic event in the life Krestovskogo. Even before the war he was given a gun and hunting became his real passion. During duck hunting in the woods near Vyritsa, he was wounded accidentally shot in the eye that had to be removed. Fearing that it would affect his perception of color, moved to the Department of Krestovskiy alfreynoy masters of painting, train a cadre of restorers, from which he graduated in 1948. From 1948 to 1950 he worked in the State of the restoration workshops as a painter and restorer of murals. At the same time as an auditor attends classes at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Repin, and in 1950 there goes the graphics department. In the sixties, he taught at the department of painting at the Leningrad Higher School of Industrial Art named after Vera Mukhina. Ya.Krestovsky was a member of a group of artists, "Eleven." Group of the most prominent representatives of the "left LOSHa" united to participate in two exhibitions in 1972 and 1976. Exhibitions were held at the Exhibition Hall of the Union of Artists of Russia on Ohta. The group also included Victor Teterin, Eugene Antipov, Zaven Arshakuni Valery Vatenin, German Egoshin, Boris Shamans, Valentine Raheen, Eugene Antipov, Leonid Tkachenko, sculptor Constantine Simun, artists and art supported by LV Mochalov. In the mid-1970s at Krestovskogo suddenly deteriorating eyesight, doctors are not allowed to write to him in a few years, he finally loses sight. Recent works by the artist dated 1977 year. Solo exhibitions of works of Jaroslav Krestovskogo were shown in Leningrad (1984), Moscow (1986) and St. Petersburg (1995, 2000).
