Russian painter (1881-1955), master paintings and drawings, the representative of Impressionist and modern. Born in Kazan, November 26 (8 December) 1881 in the owner's family gilt-carpentry workshop. Studied at the Kazan Art School (1895-1900), and then in the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (Repin's studio) and graduated in 1909. He was a member of the Association of the Wanderers. From 1909 he lived in Kazan, and taught at the local art school.

After receiving the offer to teach in New York, went to the USA (1923). He lived in New York, and since 1927 - in Taos (New Mexico items), which built a house on his own design studio, decorating his neofolklornoy "thread. At the end of 1930 traveled to Mexico and Japan, visited o.Yava. In the later period of migration to the area of Los Angeles. Fruitfully worked in different genres, leaving a large series of vivid ethnographic sketches, which often translated into a lithograph. Had a sensational success as a fashionable portraitist. Feshin died in Santa Monica (now a part of Los Angeles) on 5 October 1955. In 1981, at his home in Taos was founded Institute Feshin - with a museum and educational center.
