Among the destroyed institutions - the State Institute of Art - the only one in the country and internationally recognized center for fundamental research on art.
 The decision to establish the Institute of Art was made by the government in 1943. At this difficult time for the country its leadership realized the need to revive the fundamental principles of the spiritual and cultural landmarks - all that systematically destroyed in previous years. Strong and united country can not be out of humanitarian values ​​and understood it, those who instructed IE Grabar, Sergei Eisenstein, and other prominent figures of culture and the arts to lead the Institute of History of Art. Is institution created at the height of the war, will be destroyed in our time?

Humanities is not more or less as an instrument of self-knowledge and self-preservation of the nation, and the national idea is not born in the offices of the ministries. Likhachev, State Research Institute for Restoration, Russian Institute for Cultural Research - is a unique cultural and scientific center, and each institution has its pronounced specialization and does not duplicate the work of others.
