Default Horror stories, which happened with the heir Vasarely

Michele Vasarely in Chicago charged with stealing

A week ago, after the daughter of the artist Victor Vasarely stealthily took away the pictures on the total cost half a million dollars from stock in Chicago, where they were stored, she was charged with burglary.

Michelle Tabyurno-Vasarely, 61, was arrested while trying to illegally transport the paintings of his father in law from one warehouse to another, located in the same building - said the lawyer of one of Chicago's curator, Vasarely works stored in their warehouse. The lawyer said that these works are estimated at 575,000 dollars.

Gallery owner, Thomas Monahan, who kept the work of Vasarely, belonging to Mrs. Tabyurno-Vasarely, alleges that after learning about the court case concerning the ownership of these works, the establishment in France, he was concerned and turned to his lawyer, who advised him not to touch them up As long as no decision is issued as to whom they belong.

For his part, counsel, Ms. Tabyurno-Vasarely said that the gallery owner wanted to sell these works, without obtaining permission of his client's.
Ms. Tabyurno-Vasarely, daughter Wizard Op-art, Hungarian-born artist Victor Vasarely, claims his innocence and claims that is the owner of all these works.

"The fact that I was accused, does not mean that I was guilty, does not mean" - she said to AFP.
«get and to steal - these are two completely different things. I came to the United States with his property, which I gave the deposit to a specialized store. The whole story was invented to discredit me, that people thought I had stolen something. In fact, everything is very simple: I work with my picture. I will organize exhibitions in museums, but we all know that the stolen paintings in museums do not show.

For many years Vasarely's family is in the center of legal battle. A large part of the original works, as well as 18000 screen printing, the artist sent to the Foundation that bears his name, disappeared, while the quotation of the artist in recent years has increased considerably.
The Foundation, located in the city of Aix-en-Provence and transferred in 2007 to a temporary administration, contested the agreement of the two sons of the artist division of the inheritance to which they arrived in 1995, and which led to the dismemberment of the meeting.

The Fund filed a lawsuit against all three family members, including Michelle Tabyurno-Vasarely, and requires them to return to work or pay their value, as well as 5 million euros in compensation for moral damage.
High Court of Aix-en-Provence has to consider this matter on September 11.

"This is completely unfair," - said Ms. Tabyurno-Vasarely - "They accuse me that I had stolen the work of the Fund, as it is physically impossible, since I have not been in France. But if you want to pay, I'll pay. I must protect the legacy of Vasarely.

In late June, she spent two nights in a Chicago jail, after which she was released on bail of 125,000 dollars.
If it's in Chicago, convicted, then for breaking into her face a maximum term of 7 years imprisonment, for theft - 15 years.

According to the Bureau of Public Prosecutor Chicago hearing of her case is scheduled for 6 th August.

Victor Vasarely created optical effects. This is a very effective and attractive. And the price of his work is already over 100tysyach and continue to grow.

A lot of Japanese works on the theme of optical illusions, something that can be viewed here http://www.psy.msu.ru/illusion/moving.html

fross, thanks!

Interestingly, the thumbnails look better than if you watch an enlarged picture. And the first and last work is very similar - so much so that I would have said that they did one person.

fross, because your photos, yes? You have seen these works alive - it's interesting, is not near the impression that the basis of some paintings - computer graphics, perhaps, "elaborated" man? Looking at the photos there is such a feeling.

Yes, my photos, the quality is not very, because rented on iPone. The feeling of computer graphics does not occur, there is a volume effect. And keep in mind that the 1959-1975 work year, which could then computer graphics? Rather, it is computer graphics developed on the basis of works by artists associated with the direction of the optical effects. They are very well transmitted to the computer screen and with a decrease in size does not lose expressiveness. I think this is an important advantage of this trend, because to total deficit of time network resources only alternative to the exhibition.
Here are three paintings as if one author, but it is not.
