Shemyakin closer to Russia

In the Norman castle, Vasco, not far from Rouen, opened a retrospective exhibition of the artist Mikhail Shemyakin. Mikhail Shemyakin: I still love America, but moved to France, not for the sake of Europe, but in order to be closer to Russia. For me Europe is a large museum with an endangered people. and: Your last theatrical premiere - the ballet "Coppelia."

Now we have created a completely new version of the ballet. Starting from the libretto and ending with masks and buttons on clothes, it's all my work with several masters of the Mariinsky. Shemyakin: On September'm going to Moscow International Book Fair. There will be a presentation of two volumes. It publishes the "ABC". This is the story of my creativity from the end of 1950 to the present day: painting, portraits, theater, book graphics, drawings Zen.

Many gallery owners as a result of refusing to deal with the pictures. But I prefer to be independent, to work with the theater or perform sculptural orders.

and: Nevertheless, the market is flooded thy fakes. Do you fight with them?

Shemyakin: Fakes come from Russia, and deal with them is useless. I even turned to the Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika. I know someone who has bought an entire exhibition of my false papers. But he, laughing, recently told my friend: "In Russia I were not in danger!" When I won the case in a French gallery, the forgery had been destroyed in the presence of police and TV cameras. In Russia it is still impossible. Nobody is able to protect their copyrights. Many people are wearing bribery and theft.

Shemyakin: During the study, we studied the anatomy on cadavers, which were brought from the Medical Institute. And they were all hunters and skulls - everyone wanted to have your own to learn to depict a human head. and: Do you have a whole collection of medals and decorations, which you generously rewarded in different countries.

Shemyakin: I respectfully indifferent to the orders and only wear Cossack icon in honor of my grandfather's execution. I put on the occasional receptions Order of Chevalier of Arts and Letters, which I was awarded France.

and: Your old estate in Klaverake, not far from New York, where you have lived for many years, not more overgrown with weeds?

Shemyakin: No, I live there are people who care for it. I have a dream, sooner or later there to create a grand center of Russian art and its expansion in the United States.
