In 1937-41 he studied at the Art School at the All-Russian Academy of Arts P.P.Kazakova, AD Zaitsev.
He studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Leningrad Institute of Painting,
Sculpture and Architecture from 1941 to 1950, with interruptions from Michael Bernstein, Henry Pawlowski, Alexander Zaitsev.
He graduated from the Institute workshop B.Iogansona.
