This is a simple and inexpensive process: it requires only two low-cost reagent. The substrate can be paper or fabric. This process is interesting for both beginners and advanced photographers.
    Cyanotype was invented by Sir John Herschel (Sir John FW Herschel, 1792-1871) astronomy and physics. In 1842 he first published a description of the cyanotype in "On the Action of the Rays of the Solar Spectrum on Vegetable Colors, and on Some New Photographic Processes".
    Herschel was one of the founders of the pictures. It was he who prompted Talbot (William Henry Fox Talbot, 1800-1877), creator of the first negative-positive process, the use of sodium thiosulfate (now well-known fixer) for conversion to water-soluble form of unreacted silver halide (fixing image) and to facilitate the leaching out of the picture . The term "Photography" was also introduced by Herschel.
    Initially, cyanotype practically not used in photography. Herschel invented the process for copying of mathematical tables. Anna Atkins (Anna Atkins, 1799-1871), British biologist, in 1843 released a limited edition book, which was first used photos of plants (more photograms) made cyanotype.
