In Moscow's "Gallery of Romanov" (Dolgorukovskaya, House 29) opened an exhibition "Experience of Thanksgiving" Edward Steinberg - the sixties, one of the key artists in the repertoire of the informal post-war art.

Prices on Steinberg's work in recent years have grown by leaps and bounds. I remember very well how in December 2004 at Sotheby's was sold to couple his geometric compositions (dating is not given, but the style quite fresh) for 9,6 thousand pounds each. Meter, beautiful, called succinctly - "Composition No. 22" and "Composition No. 23". In terms of the current high rate of a pound was about 18 thousand dollars would emphasize, in 2004, when the Russian boom was just beginning and it mainly concerned the 19 th century and first half of the twentieth. Sixties then cost a penny, and only true visionaries art market felt that the "other art" soon "shoot". And in May 2006 at Sotheby's logical diptych Steinberg "Composition: Burial and Resurrection" (1987-1988) was sold for 120 thousand pounds. This figure, more than 220 thousand dollars, still a record for the artist's work. The work was very good - a classic of the late mature period Steinberg transcript Malevich, plus the artist's reflections on death, the search for God, the universal device.

Since then, too close to the record prices for Steinberg's work at auction is not selected. True, there were still unusually high results: 42,5 thousand pounds, and 79 thousand dollars (more than a meter "Composition with Fish" in 1967, sold at Sotheby's this year). According to statistics from the last peak year abstract compositions of valuable time, late 1960's - 1970 sold in the range of about 50-60 thousand dollars late compositions mid 2000's as I see them should cost somewhere half the price.

The works of the artist's liquidity, the proposal is sufficiently developed, the artist has a permanent gallery-contract and actively participates in international exhibition process, which is important for investors. Works from the exhibition in "Gallery Romanov" sold. But prices to interested buyers will have to know yourself - the organizers opted not to advertise them.
